Abstract:

To obtain a novel compound that is useful as a diamine component for thermoplastic and thermosetting polymers.

This compound is represented by formula I (Y1 is a saturated hydrocarbon; R1-R4 are each H, an alkyl, a cycloalkyl, an aryl, an aralkyl), typically 3-aminomethyl-5,5-dimethylcyclohexylamine. The compound of formula I is prepared by catalytically reductive amination of 3-formyl-cycloalkanone or 3-formylcycloalkenone of formula II (Y2 is an aliphatic hydrocarbon) with at least one of ammonia, a primary and secondary amine in a hydrogen atmosphere in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst in at least one kind of solvent.
