The pest control agent comprises a biphenyl derivative represented by formula (I) or a salt thereof (wherein X, Y and Z are each independently a halogen atom, hydroxy, formyl, an alkyl which may be substituted, an alkoxy which may be substituted, an alkylthio, an alkylsulfonyl, an alkylsulfinyl; A is carbonyl, thiocarbonyl, an alkylene or a single bond; R1 and R2 are each independently H, an alkyl which may be substituted, an alkenyl which may be substituted, an alkynyl which may be substituted, an aryl which may be substituted, formyl, an alkylcarbonyl, cyano, and the like; (m) and (n) are each independently 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4).
