Title:
CAPILLARY TUBE TRANSFER REGION COATED WITH ADHESIVE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0310154
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain desired liquid transfer characteristics by manufacturing a liquid transfer face using plastic having a balanced contact angle larger than approximately 80°.

CONSTITUTION: When a drip D of liquid which cannot easily wet a support material 10 with liquid to be transferred selected (for example water or blood serum) is dripped on a smooth surface of the material 10, its balanced contact angle α is 87° in the case of water and 83° in the case of blood serum. That is, the material is extremely difficult to wet, and it is difficult to control spreading of the liquid on a surface 12. However, when coating of adhesive is formed on the surface 12, the balanced contact angle of a drip D' of this liquid is reduced to β, wherein the angle β is between 80° and 30° depending on the selected adhesive. Thus adhesive which can be used may be one which can join a support material used to form a capillary tube transfer region and also has desired wetting performance, wherein a preferable material is polyester adhesive.
