Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a curved surface cutting method capable of prolonging a service life of a cutting tool by preventing uneven abrasion of a blade edge of the cutting tool.
SOLUTION: A blade edge 40 of a cutting tool 4 is made in a flat shape having angular parts 42 and 43 on both ends. Keeping a blade edge ridgeline 45 of the cutting tool 4 parallel to a tangent drawn to a designed curved surface as a finish surface, lathe machining is performed on a surface of a material 20 and a single annular cutting work surface is formed. Radially displacing the cutting tool, a second annular cutting work surface is formed in a partially overlapped state. Repeating the procedure, the surface of the material 20 is made to be the finish surface formed of a plurality of concentric annular cutting work surfaces along the designed curved surface in substance. As the whole blade edge of the cutting tool is used for a cutting range irrespective of the shape of the curved surface, the uneven abrasion of the blade edge is prevented and the service life of the cutting tool can be prolonged. The blade edge ridgeline is kept in parallel to the tangent drawn to a curved line, hence position control of the blade edge of the cutting tool is made easy.
