Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively reduce block distortion and mosquito distortion in block encoding and correct the image quality for contour emphasis or the like by reducing the noise of decoded video signals and performing the image quality correction to the noise reduced video signals.
SOLUTION: RF signals read from the disk 101 of a video CD or a CD-ROM or the like by an optical pickup 102 are demodulated in an EFM demodulation circuit 104 and inputted to a CD-ROM decoder 105. The video signals outputted from an MPEG decoder 106 are inputted to a noise reduction circuit 107 as a noise reducer. The signals there include the block distortion and mosquito noise, etc., by compression/extension in the MPEG decoder and the noise elimination is performed in the noise reduction circuit 107. After a processing in the noise reduction circuit 107, the image quality correction of the contour emphasis or the like is performed in an image quality correction circuit 108.
