Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain fine hydrophilic crosslinked polymer particles which are improved in polymerization stability and a dispersion stability after the passage of time, seldom affected adversely by a dispersion stabilizer, and suitable for use in the formation of a hydrophilic coating film by copolymerizing a specific hydrophilic monomer, a (meth)acrylamide monomer, a crosslinkable unsaturated monomer and a monomer other than those mentioned above.
CONSTITUTION: Fine hydrophilic crosslinked polymer particles with an average particle size of 0.03 to 1μm, wherein the polymer comprises: 2 to 50wt.% hydrophilic monomer having at least one polymerizable double bond and either a polyoxyalkylene chain or a polyvinylpyrrolidone chain; 20 to 97wt.% (meth)acrylamide monomer represented by the formula (wherein R1 represents H or methyl; and R2 and R3 each represents H or a 1-5C alkyl, provided that the total number of the carbon atoms in R2 and R3 is 5 or less); 1 to 30wt.% crosslinkable unsaturated monomer selected from among compounds having at least one polymerizable double bond and compounds having at least one functional group selected from among hydrolyzable silyl groups and 1,2-epoxy groups and at least one polymerizable double bond; and 0 to 50wt.% other monomer than those mentioned above having polymerizable unsaturated groups.
