To obtain an in-bath roll for hot-dip metal coating by improving quality and productivity without forming an alloy layer on a roll surface and by improving the wettability of plating, and prolonging the service life of the roll by eliminating the need for a pickling process, thereby making it possible to reduce the costs of products and facilities.
The in-bath roll is produced by thermally spraying molten ceramics to the roll surface layer part of a sink roll, support roll, etc., used in hot-dip metal coating facilities by a hot thermal spraying system to coat the roll with a thermally sprayed ceramic layer. Further, the metal of the same component as the plating component is thermally sprayed to the surface of the thermally sprayed ceramic layer to form the roll surface layer part into a two-layered structure composed of the thermally sprayed ceramic layer and the thermally sprayed metallic layer. Also, the surface of the thermally sprayed metallic layer is roughened to Ra 1 to 6 to improve its wettability.
