Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve the mechanical and thermal strengths of a thermoelectric converter and to avoid the damage on the converter by disposing powder of semiconductor and a metal material for an electrode having high heat resistance and small reactivity with the semiconductor in a layer state, and simultaneously integrally molding the semiconductor and the electrode by using a plasma active sintering method. CONSTITUTION:Sintering powder 3 of a material is filled in a sintering jig 2 in a chamber 1, the powder 3 is held by an upper punch 4 and a lower punch 5, and a predetermined pressure is applied from both sides by a pressurizing mechanism 6. Pulse currents are supplied from a sintering power source 9 to an upper punch electrode 7 connected to the punch 4 and a lower punch electrode 8 connected to the punch 5, a plasma discharge is generated among the particles of the powder 3 to be sintered. Thus, since the powder of the semiconductor is finely introduced into the air gaps of the powder of the metal, the connecting strength of the semiconductor and the electrode can be enhanced. As a result, the mechanical and thermal strengths of a thermoelectric converter are improved, and the damage of the converter can be avoided.
