PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perfectly remove scum adhering to an erasing heat-sensitive head and enable the head to be carried conveniently and erase printing stably, by cleaning the erasing heat-sensitive head by a cleaning medium while the erasing heat-sensitive head is kept in a heat generation state.
SOLUTION: In order to clean an erasing heat-sensitive head 6, a cleaning medium is inserted from a medium insertion port 8, and transferred in a state in touch with the erasing heat-sensitive head 6. At the same time, the erasing heat-sensitive head 6 is let to generate heat. Moreover, if a thermal head 5 is brought in touch with the cleaning medium, similar to the erasing heat- sensitive head 6, and let to generate heat upon necessities, the thermal head 5 alike is cleaned simultaneously with the erasing heat-sensitive head 6. The cleaning medium is preferably provided with undulations on a surface and a cleaning member is preferably a nonwoven cloth. An air permeability of the cleaning member is preferably in a range of 50-350cc/cm/sec.
