Abstract:
To provide an outboard engine and a ship capable of avoiding submergence at the time of tilt-up while suppressing the weight increase of the outboard engine.SOLUTION: This outboard engine 100 comprises an engine E, a drive shaft 3 to transmit the driving force of the engine E to a propeller shaft P1 rotating with a propeller P2, and a shift shaft 4a arranged in front of the drive shaft 3 and to switch a shift. The shift shaft 4a includes a first shift shaft part 41 extending in the vertical direction, a second shift shaft part 42 located below the first shift shaft part 41, arranged rearward to be separated, and extending in the vertical direction, and a shift force transmission part 43 to transmit the shift force applied to the first shift shaft part 41 to the second shift shaft part 42.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
