PURPOSE: To improve the generality of use in a shock absorber for an automobile or the like by detecting the temperature of an electroviscous fluid used for this shock absorber, and inputting the detected temperature into a controller so as to correct the applied voltage quantity in such a way as to correspond to the viscosity of the electroviscous fluid.
CONSTITUTION: The fluid temperature of an electroviscous fluid is detected by a temperature sensor 16 and inputted into a controller 11 as a feedback signal. A controller 11 computes correction voltage by the combination of the detected temperature and command voltage. The applied voltage quantity is then corrected by the computed correction voltage and applied to electrodes 1, 2 through electric wires 12, 13.
