Abstract:
A process for producing either a 3-benzamido-2-hydroxycarboxylic acid represented by 3-benzamido-2-hydroxy-3-phenylpropionic acid or a salt thereof. The process is safe and suitable for industrial production, and the target compound having a high optical purity is produced in a high yield. An optically active 4-(N-protected amino)-1-alken-3-ol is produced through the following steps (1)-(4). From the compound, the target 3-benzamido-2-hydroxycarboxylic acid or salt is produced through the following steps (9)-(14). [Chemical formula 1]
