Abstract:
A transmission line for optical amplification according to the present disclosure reduces, when compared to the transmission lines for optical amplification in the prior art, the connection loss between the EDF positioned on the upstream side of the signal optical path and the SMF positioned on the downstream side thereof. Said transmission line for optical amplification includes an EDF and an SMF which are fused and connected to one another. The EDF has an ER-doped core and an F-doped cladding. The SMF core is not doped with Er. The ratio (MFD2/MFD1) of the MFD2 in the regular section of the SMF to the MFD1 in the regular section of the EDF falls within the range of 1.9-2.2, inclusive.
