Abstract:
Provided is a method of measuring and evaluating mechanical outputs, such as the force, displacement, and mechanical energy generated on a piezoelectric actuator, and applied to an object substance, or the rigidity of the object substance, just from measured electrical quantity values, without using mechanical quantity sensors; a controlling method for the piezoelectric actuator; and an apparatus that utilizes those methods. The method of measuring and evaluating the mechanical outputs has; a process for obtaining the equivalent circuit constants of the piezoelectric actuator; a process that applies a voltage to the piezoelectric actuator, and measures the amount of charged electricity that flowed into the piezoelectric actuator due to the applying of the voltage; or a process that applies electric charge to the piezoelectric actuator, and measures the voltage applied to the piezoelectric actuator due to applying the electric charge to the piezoelectric actuator; and a process that measures and evaluates one or more of the values of the force, displacement or mechanical energy that are generated on the piezoelectric actuator and applied to the object substance, or the rigidity of the object substance, using the values of the equivalent circuit constants, applied voltage, and the amount of electricity charged; and the controlling method adjusts and controls the voltage to be applied or the amount of electricity to be charged, while measuring and evaluating these values, one by one, at the same time.
